Recently, threebrand-new models of the DongfengNano Box, a compact pure electric SUV, have been officially launched in China by Dongfeng EV. The Nano Box is part of Dongfeng Group's business unit that specializes in small pure electric vehicles and is currently developing a cutting-edge platform for these vehicles.
Originally developed by Renault, this vehicle was known as the Renault Kwid, with its electric variant called the City K-ZE. Manufactured in China byDongfeng-Renault, it was exported to Europe as the Dacia Spring. Dongfeng also offers various versions under different brands, including the Dongfeng Aeolus EX1, Dongfeng Fengxing T1, Dongfeng Fengguang E1, Venucia e30, and the Dongfeng Nano Box, all produced in the same facility.
As expected with knowledge of the Dacia Spring, the Nano Box may not offer extensive features for its cost. It is powered by a single motor generating 33 kW (45 PS) and a peak torque of 125 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 50 km/h (31 mph) in 6 seconds. Details on the 0 to 100 km/h time are not disclosed, possibly for good reason. The battery has a 27.2 kWh capacity and charges from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes.
Inside, the Nano Box features a 7-inch instrument cluster display and a 10-inch infotainment screen alongside a dual-color design that extends to the exterior. The vehicle accommodates four passengers (2+2 seating layout). It measures 3,732 mm (146 inches) in length, 1,579 mm (62.1 inches) in width, and 1,515 mm (59.6 inches) in height with a 2,423 mm (95.3 inches) wheelbase.
The Nano Box is equipped with a front motor delivering 33 kW of power and 125 Nm of torque.
Dongfeng
asserts the vehicle's official 0-50 km/h acceleration time is 6 seconds. The car is fitted with a lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL, offering a 15.97 kWh capacity and a CLTC pure electric range of 201 km. The basic model supports only slow charging, taking 3 hours for a full charge, whereas the other two variants support fast charging, achieving a full charge in just 0.53 hours.
